Robert Harre-Jones was a Music Scholar at Christ Church, Oxford, singing in the cathedral choir under Simon Preston and studying singing with David Johnston and organ with the late Nicholas Danby. Following spells in the choirs of St. George's chapel, Windsor Castle and Westminster Cathedral, he has become one of Britain's most sought after consort singers - he was a founder member of the Tallis Scholars, appearing on all their award winning recordings, and has also won Gramophone awards with the Orlando Consort and the Gabrieli Consort. These two groups now form the basis of his career, but he has also sung
recently with the King's Consort, Pro Cantione Antiqua and the Hilliard Ensemble, with whom he toured Japan in January 2000.
As a soloist, he has sung in 'Messiah' in Birmingham Town Hall with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra - recent engagements include performances of Bach's St. John Passion for Reading University and the Gwent Bach Choir, and the St. Matthew Passion with the Dyfed Choir.
He also maintains a lifelong interest in organ playing and choral directing - he has been Director of Music at St. Bride's church, Fleet Street in the City of London since 1988 and is also in demand for choral workshops with amateur singers.
