TAPLOW PARISH CHURCH 23 March 1968

This small and specialised group of singers goes from strength to strength at a phenomenal rate. Rarely, if ever, has such near perfection been heard in this locality. The major work was J. S. Bach's ' Jesu meine Freude '. By late middle age one has heard this work many times ; I do not ever expect to hear it better done.

There is a new choir in our area — The New Thames Singers. It is composed of young, enthusiastic people who aim at a really professional standard of singing, and what is more important, they achieve it. Maidenhead Music Society was privileged to hear a recital by these singers before the annual meeting last week, and it proved to be a real delight. The New Thames Singers will shortly be performing in London ; they deserve every success.

EGHAM AND DISTRICT MUSIC CLUB 6June 1968

The New Thames Singers gave an unusual and most enjoyable concert to members of the Club last week. The conductor, Ewan Davidson, a former organ scholar of Emmanual College, Cambridge, insists on a really professional standard of young singers and has achieved excellent results. In the Byrd four-part Mass the singers produced a splendid volume of sound, which was well-balanced with plenty of light and shade. A splendid finale was the Choral Dances from Britten's Gloriana.
